Mission
It is the Mission of The South City Open Studio and Gallery for Children to provide a safe and educational environment for children to explore the Arts and also to strengthen the ties within the St. Louis neighborhood, it's families and it's youth.

Overview
Since 2002 SCOSAG has provided thousands of hours of hands-on artistic education in the form of curriculum based classes, summer, winter, and spring break camps, drop-in open studio hours, adult classes, and community events at its headquarters in Tower Grove Park. From 2005 through 2008, SCOSAG maintained a second studio in Forest Park Southeast, The Potter's Workshop. Countless hours of tuition-free programming was provided to students living in this at-risk neighborhood.

Artists who instruct
SCOSAG engages artists from around the metropolitan area to serve as instructors. It offers programs including pottery, visual arts, creative writing, theater, photography and music for kids and adults, alike. Since its founding, SCOSAG has served 1,292 children (including low income, under served populations) through open studio hours, structured classes, summer camps, fairs and festivals.

What is Wall Ball
This not-to-be-missed event has been building momentum over the last five years drawing over 1,000 diverse and hip attendees each year. In fact, Wall Ball is so fantastic; it was named Best Fundraiser by the Riverfront Times and chosen for the coveted Hot List by Alive Magazine! Each year, SCOSAG invites 45 to 50 local St. Louis artists and provides them with canvases. As they paint for five hours guests drink, eat, dance, and socialize. More importantly, Wall Ball guests observe the artists and silently bid on art that's being created right before their eyes. The evening is extremely entertaining because how often does one get to see an artist at work? After attending a Wall Ball, you realize the magic is in the process. The evening has also been sponsored by some of St. Louis's most popular restaurants, eclectic boutiques, not to mention its hottest DJs.
